The Montgomery Mine Claims are located approximately 20 miles north of Bonners Ferry, in Boundary County Idaho. This area has seen mining activity since the early 1900’s as the first prospector’s staked claims in the region. The claims were deeded to Montgomery Mining Company in 1935. Early in the spring of 1970, American Exploration and Mining Company leased the property and conducted the geological work in the area. After the termination of the lease by American Exploration and Mining Company, the claims were abandoned and Ashington Mining located claims over a portion of the area. In 2002, Shoshone Silver Mining acquired the claims from Ashington.
The property has 3200 feet of underground development consisting of seven tunnels.

Claim Geology
The northeast portion of Boundary County is dominated by the presence of Belt Series of sediments, specifically the Aldridge-Prichard formation, which is the oldest formation of the Belt Series. The formation is made up of dominantly quartzites and argillites. A series of mafic sills and moyie sills intrude the sediments, usually along contacts of quartzite and argillites. The sills do not cut across bedding planes. The sills are gabbroic in nature, with variations to basalt and diorite. The sills are also of Precambrian Age. The main mineralized potential in the area is the mineralization in the diorite sills. Magnetite, pyrrhotite, and chalcopyrite have been introduced, possibility at the same time as the quartz veins. The mineralization also includes minerals of nickel, silver, gold and possibly platinum.
