Shoshone's Lakeview Mill
The Lakeview Mill is an on-site, expandable, 100-ton per day flotation mill that produced concentrates from ore obtained from Shoshone's mining operations from the 1970s into the early 1990s. Additionally, the Company has engaged in custom milling. Shoshone ceased operations at the Mill during the early 1990s, and began refurbishing the mill in 2006 as the first step towards returning to production in the Lakeview District. The Mill reopened September, 2007 and is currently processing stockpiled material previously mined by Shoshone.
Electrical upgrades and testing of motors was conducted in 2006. Inspection of the mill showed that major equipment was operational but general cleaning, maintenance and upgrades were required to restart the mill. A well was drilled to provide potable water for the mill and office.
In 2006, Shoshone directors, employees and consultants visited the Lakeview Mill to gauge progress at the mill and get a first hand look at the onsite equipment and facilities. The crusher, shown at right from a 2006 photo, is located at the mill's main ore dump.
Mill
rejuvenation has progressed quickly during 2007. A portable building was
placed to serve as on site housing, plumbing for the site was completely
redone. A new site for the mill's self-contained water management system,
capable of supporting the processing of 1000 tons per day was located and
a liner, pump and water tank installed. Mill equipment was sandblasted, painted
and thoroughly cleaned. A new dock for loading ore was designed and built.
Additional upgrades to the mill are expected to be made during the 2008 season.
